Introduction
The Department of Zoology was started in July, 1984 from the
opening of this college. In the beginning there were, only
14 students and only one faculty member, Dr. Garad Vasant
Bhujangrao, he was the first
teacher of this college who conducted first teaching
period in subject of zoology as per the Time-Table on the
first working day of this college. The subject Fishery
Science was introduced in the academic year 1990-1991, with
the strength of 05
students, later on during course of the time the strength
steadily increase. In the academic year 2010-2011, the
strength for all classes of zoology was 147 and 35 students
for fishery science. Department of zoology and fishery
science was recognized as research centre by S.R.T.M.
University, Nanded in the year 2003. In the year 2003-2004,
M.Sc. Zoology regular course was started

In year 2010
December, The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed
with the Department of Helminthology, Institute of
Parasitology, Branisovska, ASCR, Ceske Budejovice, Czech
republic and Parasitological Institute, Cosecs, Slovak
Republic for the
scientific cooperation and research in
collaboration for the mutual interests in the field
of Parasitology, especially fish Parasitology.

The Department of Zoology and Fishery
science provides laboratory facilities to the researchers
from other departments of the college and other institutions
by charging minimum concessional fees, it is
research extension activity.
Achievements
This department has developed tie ups
with the research institutions in Czech Republic and Slovak
Republic for furthering the cause of advanced research in
the field of fish Parasitology during the partial
sponsorship for the one month Post-Doctoral Research
Training in the basics of
Fish Parasitology in Czech Republic in November,
2010.
