DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

Brief History

The department of Chemistry is established by the Dnyanopasak Shikshan Mandal's, College of Arts, Commerce and Science in 1984. It offers programs such as B. Sc., M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees. The Department is one of the best for its teaching and research activities. The M. Sc. course in Organic Chemistry started in 1992. The B. Sc. and M. Sc. Chemistry courses were introduced to meet the overwhelming response of Chemistry graduates and post-graduates students. The department of Chemistry is the prime department of the College with nearly 300 students in UG & PG courses and 25 research students in the academic year. The alumni of the department are holding the higher positions in National Laboratories, Institutions and Universities of our country as well as abroad. The employment response is more than 75%. The research work carried in the department is of international status with total number of publications so far are 150. The faculties of the department are reviewers for the national and international journals. The total number of major/minor research projects completed by the faculty in last five years is six. The department routinely organizes national seminars, symposia, and workshops in Chemistry and is frequently visited by scientists of national and international eminence.

Future Perspectives

  1. The department achieved a prominent position in imparting Chemistry knowledge, while enriching the faculty and students.

  2. Department have adequate facility for research, we applied for major/minor research project to UGC, DST, DRDO, CSIR and DBT which could more facilitate our department with advanced research facilities.

  3. We are to planning to extend activities of student-scientist interaction in Chemistry education and research for student triumph at national and international level.

  4. We are trying to give additional self-determination to the students to explore their Chemistry knowledge to set of connections in future perspectives.
